Uproar PR firm has a long-standing and meaningful relationship with Special Olympics, one of the most premier organizations in the world when it comes to promoting inclusion and acceptance for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Recently, the Uproar PR firm team helped plan and execute an exciting event at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort to unveil the unique logo that will represent the 2022 Games for the next three years.
For the first time in the 50-year history of the Special Olympics USA Games, the logo was inspired and designed by nine creative Special Olympics athletes from the across the nation. A three-day workshop at the Uproar Orlando office laid the groundwork for this historic occasion, as the nine athletes used paint, fabric, markers and even cupcake frosting to design their logos. The nine designs were later merged to create a logo exploding with life, representing the natural elements of Florida and culminating in a fiery spark of the Special Olympics spirit.
Take a look at the creative process, which was documented by Academy Award-winning director Rayka Zehtabchi:
Uproar gave national media a sneak peek of the exciting news weeks in advance to create buzz and excitement ahead of the unveil, ultimately resulting in outstanding national coverage. The team also led an initiative to help design and deliver creative mailers to key media with just enough details to tease the storyline and promote interest in learning more. These custom mailers opened to reveal a 30-second teaser video with sound. The team also helped invite local media, sponsors and key VIPs to attend the Orlando event for a first look at the historic logo. Uproar also recognized the partners of Special Olympics USA in our outreach efforts, spotlighting these valuable relationships and their contributions.
Uproar’s social media experts helped draft and publish content leading up to, during and after the event. This included creative elements, such as teaser posts, countdown graphics to the big reveal, real time content from the event itself, throwback posts to continue the buzz, as well as evergreen content highlighting the Special Olympics community. The results were impressive with over 600,000 organic impressions in a four-week period, almost 55,000 engagements and over 1,200 new followers across their social channels.
The Uproar team assisted in every step of the event-planning process: joining onsite meetings, executing social media strategy, and providing input into the run-of-show, speaker talking points, media landscape and more. During the celebration, Uproar facilitated media access, coordinated interviews, captured social media content and provided firsthand support to the Special Olympics team. The event resulted in more than 50 pieces of coverage, ranging from local television coverage to top-tier national placements, and a potential audience of more than 350 million. Aarushi Pratap, one of the nine Special Olympics athletes and an aspiring fashion designer, and Special Olympics Florida President Sherry Wheelock appeared on FOX America’s Newsroom to share the story.
Uproar has developed fun and visual media opportunities to promote the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando since the company was announced as the agency of record in 2018. Buckle in – Uproar will have a lot more exciting news to share before one of the country’s most cherished sporting events visits Orlando in 2022.
