2017 was a big year for our Chicago office! From growing our staff to building out our tech and consumer practice areas, we made a mark in the Chicago public relations community. Here are a few of the highlights:
We hosted a Chicago PRSSA Panel Event
In April, Uproar PR’s Chicago office hosted the Chicago Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Young Professional’s Network chapter at our office. We brought together budding PR pros starting off their careers to discuss learning how to manage. Account Director, Christine Curtin, sat on the panel as one of the featured speakers and discussed her tips, tricks and advice on managing up and down, effective delegation strategies and how to define yourself as a manager. We love to host events in our space and participate in the Chicago PR community!
We Coordinated Client PILLOW of HEALTH®’s Visit Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago
We helped spread the holiday spirit with client PILLOW of HEALTH® (POH) for their #HugOneGiveOne campaign. Through the charitable initiative, for every POH Kids Pillow sold, one is donated to a child with cancer. With the help of their Giving Partner Cal’s Angels, a local Chicago non-profit for pediatric cancer, POH is helping to give children battling cancer comfort and healthy sleep. In December, the POH team, Cal’s Angels and Uproar PR Chicago paid a visit to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to pass out the donated pillows to the children as they enjoyed a pizza and treat party while they waited to be seen by their doctors.
To promote this campaign, Uproar’s Chicago office did a major PR push to the local Chicago media market to garner attention around the event. Prior to the day of the event, the Uproar team dropped off Kids Pillows to local TV and radio stations and secured coverage on WGN AM Radio’s Steve Cochran Morning Show, WCIU-TV’s The Jam, ABC 7 Chicago’s ‘Gifts that Give Back’ segment and a social media shout out from WTMX 101.9 FM The Mix’s Midday Host Lisa Allen.
On the morning of the event, we distributed an event media alert to the news desks of the local Chicago TV stations. The alert secured a camera crew from ABC 7 Chicago who came out to the hospital to capture video footage of the children receiving their pillows, as well as NBC Chicago who requested images from the event. The footage from both ABC and NBC was featured that night on the evening news.
We Spent a Day at a Wrigley Rooftop
Each quarter, Uproar PR treats its employees to a reward day for reaching a company goal. After a successful quarter working hard to secure coverage for our clients, employees from the Uproar PR Chicago office took a day off in September to let loose and have some fun cheering on the World Champion Chicago Cubs. Uproar rented a rooftop suite overlooking Wrigley Field, and the Chicago PR Firm employees enjoyed an afternoon baseball game and some quality time with coworkers.
Uproar, a Chicago PR Firm, prides itself on having a strong culture, and events like this help strengthen that culture. “Not only do these kinds of events get us out of the office, but they bring the team together, help us bond and create friendships that ultimately lead to better working relationships,” says Account Director, Christine Curtin. “They also show that Uproar cares about its employees and rewards a job well done.”
