To celebrate September as National Bourbon Heritage Month, our Chicago PR team pitched the number one morning show, WGN Morning News, to have Spirit Hub take part in the station’s “Around Town” segment – a daily morning on-site live broadcast that highlights local events, businesses and happenings. The WGN crew broadcasted that morning from the Spirit Hub warehouse in Lincolnwood, IL.
Our Chicago PR team worked hand-in-hand with the Spirit Hub team crafting how each of the seven live segments would look, selecting the unique distillery partners to feature, crafting the specialized elements of the spirit and prepared the team for media interviews.
Highlighting the tradition and deep-rooted legacy of the spirit, the seven live segments featured the history of bourbon, how it’s made and fun cocktails demos of recipes to create at home. KOVAL Distillery, one of the hundreds of Spirit Hub distillery partners, highlighted various ways to drink bourbon—from neat, to adding a few drops of water in, on the rocks or mixed up in a delicious cocktail, like the classic old fashioned.
Grand Traverse Distillery featured some of the twelve different styles of bourbon, including Blue Corn and Wheated. Spirit Hub was able to detail their distillery partners from around the nation, like Iron Fish out of Michigan and Chambers Bay in Washington, that specializes in distilling craft bourbon.
Spirit Hub COO Brian Feener highlighted how Spirit Hub is a way to bring unique craft spirits to consumers doorsteps offering over 1,000 spirits from 200+ distilleries from across the country. When you shop through the Spirit Hub platform, you are supporting small business owners and trying out spirits you wouldn’t have access to before.
All seven live hits spanned across the morning hours and had a total viewership of over 1.1 million and a local publicity value of over $126,000. At the time of the broadcast and throughout the remainder of the week, the team saw double the amount of traffic on their website, saw instant sales and received an influx in newsletter signups from new potential customers.
