From the Bay to Bloomberg: National Attention on a Community Initiative

Long-time Uproar client, business entrepreneur and outspoken environmentalist, Ken LaRoe, looked to our Financial Services PR team to make a big splash in the financial industry, both locally and nationally, as he made his return to the banking industry in 2020. After the acquisition of his last bank, First GREEN Bank in 2018, and a few years spent traveling the country, LaRoe wanted to get back to doing what he does best, “being a rapid environmentalist and a rapid capitalist,” thus launching Climate First Bank.

Uproar leveraged their strong media connections to announce LaRoe’s latest venture, bringing values-based banking to the greater St. Petersburg community, across several different verticals. After a 30-minute phone call during a drive down south and few texts shared back and forth, Bloomberg featured the story in “New Florida Bank to Support Sustainable Businesses, Solar Panels.” The article details LaRoe’s initiative to bring traditional banking services to the “businesses committed to sustainability and consumers trying to make their homes more eco-friendly.” It goes on to quote LaRoe stating “Millenials vote with their pocketbooks, and they care about climate change.”

The placement on Bloomberg.com reached more than 53 million online readers across the globe. Additionally, the article was shared in the Bloomberg Terminal where 310,000 finance professionals were reached directly. Click here to read the full article.
