Uproar PR is proud to announce that CEO Catriona Harris, has been named the 2019 Alumna of the Year by her alma mater, Saint Mary’s College of California. This award is given to a graduate who has made significant contribution to his or her professional field, and has demonstrated service to the college and community.
“My time as a student at Saint Mary’s was instrumental in shaping the person I am today,” said Catriona. “I’m incredibly honored to be recognized as Alumna of the Year and join a long list of remarkable individuals who exemplify what it means to be a Saint Mary’s Gael.”
After growing up in Folsom, California, Catriona attended the college to pursue a communications degree, thinking she’d like to work in TV news. During her time at Saint Mary’s, Catriona worked with SMC-TV and hosted her own radio show on KSMC. While she attended college, she also held internships with various Bay Area TV stations. In her final semester, Catriona took a PR class that opened her eyes to the industry she would make her profession.
Founded in 2011, Uproar has grown under Catriona’s leadership to include two different locations – Orlando and Chicago, nearly 60 employees and more than 100 clients. The agency has been recognized in the Inc. 5000 for the last three consecutive years, and in the Orlando Business Journal’s Fast 50 list for 2017 and 2018.
In true Saint Mary’s spirit, Catriona seeks to serve the local community by sharing her time and knowledge. She sits on the Board of Trustees for Making the Difference, an Orlando-based nonprofit organization that runs a database of volunteer opportunities to make it easy to help others in the community. Catriona also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Orlando Science Center.
Catriona will be honored at the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony on February 2. She’ll also be recognized during halftime at a men’s basketball game on the same day.
