BigFish Spirits is an online marketplace for some of the most sought-after liquor brands in the world, which can’t be found in your ordinary grocery store. Liquor brands vary from small distilleries across the globe to famed brands across the U.S., which residents of Illinois can have delivered directly to their front door. Uproar PR, a Chicago PR firm, is working closely with BigFish Spirits to introduce them to the Illinois market, gain brand recognition and help boost sales. In order to engage with press and influencers directly, Uproar organized an exclusive tasting event at our Chicago PR firm office. Our team invited local press and influencers to meet with the BigFish team and sample select spirits from their partner distillers, this gave media the opportunity to learn more about the brand and system firsthand.
Here are three key takeaways from the event.
At the tasting event, media and influencers got to mingle with each other and the BigFish team, while learning about the brand and its distillers straight from the experts. Michael Weiss, Founder and CEO of BigFish, and his staff were able to introduce themselves personally and talk to the guests about all of the unique options available on the BigFish platform. These introductions are vital in creating relationships with the media. Through relationships built at this event, Uproar secured collaborations with two local influencers and built relationships with local reporters for media opportunities and stories.
With BigFish being a new and immerging company, boosting their brand awareness is a top priority across the media relations and social media teams. In order to generate engagement and social sharing for guests in attendance, BigFish and Uproar created a branded photo booth where guests were asked to take pictures and share their experience on social media tagging BigFish’s social media accounts. When guests left, they were given a gift bag that included mini sample bottles of BigFish’s products and a coupon code to redeem on BigFish’s website in hopes of driving new users to their platform.
Experience & Teachable Moments
At the event all guests had the opportunity to sample neat pours of various spirits from three partner distilleries, giving each brand the opportunity to provide a history behind each spirit and the distillery itself. BigFish also had a mixologist present to prepare a selection of cocktails made with products from each distillery and share with guests how they can create their own spins on classic cocktails using spirits available through BigFish.
Overall, the BigFish tasting event was a great success. Not only did it give Uproar the opportunity to place BigFish in front of key members of the Chicago media community, but it was also a great way to build relationships with the client and with the press as well.
