Quarterly Reward: Chicago Cubs Game – Chicago PR Culture

Written by Kelly Delgado, Account Executive

Every quarter, Uproar’s leadership sets a company-wide goal for us to achieve between both the Orlando and Chicago PR offices. These goals are always aligned with the needs of our clients and encourage us to deliver truly impactful results.

To the Chicago PR office’s excitement, we learned our Q2 reward was a Chicago Cubs versus San Francisco Giants game viewed from the Budweiser Bleachers.

The morning of, we came dressed for a ball game (I sported a Cubs hat and one of my many Kris Bryant jerseys). As we made our way to Wrigley Field to be greeted by the stadium’s famous marquee, our first stop was the concession stand.

After enjoying Chicago-style dogs, peanuts and traditional ball-park delights, we headed toward the Budweiser Bleachers in search of the best seats we could find. Digger Phelps threw the first pitch; he led the Notre Dame men’s basketball team to its only ever Final Four appearance to-date. I was raised an Irish fan, so this was a huge bonus to the reward.

My favorite moment of the day, however, was when Jason Heyward waved at me. During the game, a few of us ventured to see the players from the bullpen. That’s when the Cubs’ right fielder knocked on the glass, pointed at me, and waved!

The game was a great opportunity for us to bond with coworkers we don’t typically see throughout the workday. As we cheered on the Cubs, we sat and discussed our plans for the weekend, shared our latest client placements and bonded over our need for multiple layers of sunscreen.

Despite only getting two hits, the Cubs won the game 1-0. In true celebratory fashion, the majority of the office then headed to a local Wrigleyville bar for some dinner and drinks.

As we now wrap up our final month for Q3, both offices are working hard to meet our goals in the hope of achieving another company reward day as fun as this one.
